Camp Description:Took the Santa Cruz trail down from Mission Pine Basin. Between Kellogg Camp and Flores Flat trail is almost nonexistent. Lots of bushwhacking and poison oak. Needs work. From Flores Flat to Santa Cruz station trail is better, but easy to lose in grassy areas. Needs more traffic!

Water Source Details:Lots of water flowing in the creek

Flores Flat Camp Survey - 03-03-2016 - by Los Padres Forest Association
Link: Flores Flat Camp
Date: 03-03-2016
Surveyor Name:Los Padres Forest Association
Camp Description:Flores was beautiful.  Cleaned up most of the horse packer trash that had been "hidden" for the past few years.  There are still a few remains including a red Igloo cooler.  The water was crystal clear and flowing great with some of the pools being 4-5 feet deep.  Fantastic.  Besides the cooler, the camp is primitive with nothing other than a metal fire grate and a few old nails in the tree.  The oak at Flores is a little scary to sleep under but it's a beauty.

Flores Flat Camp Survey - 02-27-2015 - by Los Padres Forest Association

Surveyor Name:Los Padres Forest Association
Camp Description:Water was flowing great at Flores.  Very nice camp but doesn't appear to get much use, although it should.  The trail down to the creek could be improved.  There are two campsites at Flores, the main one under the large oak tree and then a very seldom used camp up-canyon about 100 yards.  There was a bunch of trash left in camp #2.  Things like a cooler, horse saddle, Birkenstocks and a duffle bag - sort of odd.  Good place to spend a night for sure.
