Description:

The camp is located on the Santa Paula Canyon Trail (21W11). The camp is near the falls and gorge of Santa Paula Creek. Named after the Big Cone Spruce trees in the area.

Camp Description:The trail that leads directly to Big Cone Camp rather than the falls has a lot of blow downs in the trail. Wind must have been pretty strong to break so many living trees, and it was very windy overnight. Camp is in good shape.

Camp Description:Campsite is in great shape, very little trash, and multiple fire rings all in good repair. Only an hour from the trailhead, so would be a good spot for a hike in after work.

Camp Description:Trail to the camp and campsites are in good condition. A lot of day hiker traffic through the area. Water is flowing, and the swimming holes here and above are quite nice. Lots of poison oak scattered along the edges of camp.

Camp Description:Creek is running well for a hot dry September.  Campsites are clean.  Fire restriction in effect and needed plenty of water for the hike in as it was so dry and hot.

Camp Description:Eight volunteers joined me on Sunday, 24th, for a trash cleanup. We removed over 100 pounds of trash.  The first tree in the 1/18 report was removed. We did not have a large enough saw for tree #2.  - Heidi
