Compared to November 2020, the bottom two pools look like they have had good maintenance done and are no longer filled with silt. Water was clear and in all of the pools you could see the concrete base. Shovels and a pail were at the site to help with maintenance if you stop by and see they need a little care. According to my brewing thermometer, the water flowing into the top pool was about 110 degrees, the top pool was about 109 degrees, the middle pool was about 107 degrees, and the bottom pool was about 105 degrees. This is not to say that when you go, these will be the temperatures: so please check the temperature yourself!There is no shade near these pools so the views are beautiful, but in the heat it gets a bit toasty.Water Source: Flowing Water Source Details: Nice flow rate; All 3 pools are full! Link: Little Caliente Spring Date: 02-20-2021 Surveyor Name: Nancy Aguilar Camp Description: The hot springs was running very well. 3 tubs for 10 of us girls. We bikepacked from The MOB shop in Ojai. Headed out to Matillija trailhead. We passed along Jameson Lake and made a right at Santa Ynez campground. Headed to Pendola station. From there Little Caliente is 6 miles out. 10 girls had the lower camp spot to ourselves. After which 2 guys came out on bikes and also camped out there for the night. This was an overnight trip Saturday and left Sunday. Trail conditions are in excellent condition. To filter water we walked a few feet above the springs. There was a trickle of clear fresh water. Perfect. We filtered about 4 liters for our morning coffee and oatmeal. Water Source: Flowing Water Source Details: The hot springs was running very well. 3 tubs full of water. Link: Little Caliente Spring Date: 01-08-2021 Surveyor Name: Nate Bates Camp Description: My wife and I hiked from the Cold Springs trailhead to Little Caliente. The trail is very well maintained all the way to Little Caliente. If you plan on hiking the same route, plan on filling up at the emerald pools as water is scarce at Little Caliente besides the Sulphur Springs that you could filter (if desperate) or a small spring that is flowing into the road right before Little Caliente. The new Mono Jungle reroute is very easy to follow and is a very well made trail. If you're planning on going out to these hot springs, I recommend going on a weekday as foot traffic picks up a lot during the weekend.
