Colson Campground Survey - 10-01-2019 - by Anonymous Surveyor

Date: 10-01-2019
Surveyor Name:Anonymous Surveyor
Camp Description:Checking this out for possible camping. Very dissapointed as to amount of trash: beer bottles, cans and other paper products. Evidence of disregard of trees by many having cut and or choping marks on them. There was also a target where someone had been practicing targe shooting near one of the tables. Most disgusting was the many, many spots where users had used the bathroom with no indication of proper are. Seems like most were using toweletts. Total lack of [reservation/care of natural beauty for others was evident. But, typical of CA.

Colson Campground Survey - 02-25-2017 - by Nate
Link: Colson Campground
Date: 02-25-2017
Surveyor Name:Nate
Camp Description:Fairly rough road up to the camp. Streams cross the road 11 times up the canyon to the camp, and the gate at the entrance of the Los Padres was locked.
The camp itself was fairly overgrown with grass and was not well kept, but were no other people there. The hike up the canyon was very beautiful with waterfalls and caves.
Water Source:Flowing
Water Source Details:The streams have a high flow rate. If you want to drive up to the camp, you will need a truck to get the Los Padres Gate. The streams cross the road 11 times, and it is deep in places.
Weather Conditions:Weather was overcast and 45 degrees
