Description:

Upper Reyes Camp is located a few miles up from Reyes Creek Trailhead along the Gene Marshall-Piedra Blanca National Recreation Trail. There are two sites at Upper Reyes, one on each side of the creek. The western camp is located under a grove of beautiful mature cedar trees. The eastern camp has oak trees shading the campsite. The creek at camp is seasonal, usually drying up by the end of summer. There will often be no water between the trailhead and camp.

Camp Description:We hiked from Reyes Campground to Piedra Blanca Trailhead. 95% of the trail was easy to follow. We did have to look for the faint trail at Haddock when crossing the creek. We also had the same issue before getting to Pine Mountain Camp. The trail was faint but we managed to find it and head down and cross the creek. If you look up you can see the trail opening up in between some trees. Its not as bad a climb as it looks. You have to look for the trail. After Pine Mtn camp the descent was in amazing conditions. It looked like someone had been clearing the trails. I need to mention around Beartrap it was evident someone was out there clearing the trail also.
Thank you Chris for your help

Camp Description:Nice, gradual ascent up from Reyes Campground. Trail was mostly clear. Got stuck on the trail two times on the trip waiting for a rattlesnake to make way (the snake was at N34.660127 W119.300738 both times - on the way up and back). The creek was flowing nicely. Nice, shaded camp site had ample room for 2 tents (down below) and a nice grill/stove. A separate group had pitched their tent on the flat up above the main site. The second site (on the other side of the creek) had room for a half-dozen tents and also featured a stove/grill. Easy hike up for beginning trekkers.

Campsite was in great condition. It looked like someone had come in and chopped down a few new trees which was odd. There is one stove and fire ring that is surrounded by many large stands of cedars (see photos).

Beartrap Campground
We camped here our first night. The main campsite upstream looked good and had quite a few fire rings and some good tent flats. We decided to set up downstream where it was more secluded and shaded by more trees. Downstream, there were two sites, both in great condition (see photos).
