Description:

EFFECTIVE APRIL 16, 2016

P-BAR CAMPGROUND IS CLOSED DUE TO HAZARD TREES IN AND AROUND THE CAMPGROUND.  FOR MORE INFORMATION CHECK WITH THE SANTA BARBARA RANGER DISTRICT.

P-Bar was based on the brand of the Pendola family who had an adobe home near Pendola Ranger Station. They ran cattle in the days before Gibraltar Dam was constructed. Their permit was canceled because people in Santa Barbara said the cattle would contaminate the lake which was used as Santa Barbara drinking water. The road to the camp (5N15) is often closed during wet weather.
