Description:

Oak Camp is located a few miles up the Chorro Grande Trail off of Hwy 33 in the Ventura Backcountry.  This camp is outside the wilderness but still has a wilderness feel to it.  The camp has two sites, each with a firering and are under a thick canopy of oak trees.

Oak Camp Survey - 10-19-2017 - by Murray Ruben
Link: Oak Camp
Date: 10-19-2017
Surveyor Name:Murray Ruben
Camp Description:Very pretty campsite with plenty of good, flat tent space and three fire rings/stoves alongside creek.
Well worth the (relatively easy) hike in.
Bring bug dope or veil as the flies were very pesky (but only at the campsite).
Wear long leggings to protect against the brambles.

Trail is passable, slightly overgrown, and not recommended for dogs as it is full of fox tails.
Pay careful attention following trail as the undergrowth tended to disguise the trail at several stream crossings, none of which were well marked.

Water Source Details:Everything is bone dry.
