Matias Potrero Camp Survey - 04-25-2017 - by Los Padres Forest Association
Link: Matias Potrero Camp
Date: 04-25-2017
Surveyor Name:Los Padres Forest Association
Camp Description:The trail down to Matias Potrero Camp continues to degrade, making it harder and harder to find but you can push through the grass down the hill and over to the old camp - which is also hard to find.  No indication of anyone camping here anytime recently.

Really nice views and love the sound of wind through the grasses.
Water Source:Flowing
Water Source Details:Water was flowing good in the creek next to the camp and at the "trail" crossing.
Weather Conditions:low 80's and pleasant.

Matias Potrero Camp Survey - 04-01-2017 - by Valerie Norton
Link: Matias Potrero Camp
Date: 04-01-2017
Surveyor Name:Valerie Norton
Camp Description:I didn't actually find the campsite, just a corral.  Followed the 'dozer track down through the hills and across the creek and back up to that.  The small creek has a little water that goes underground just above where I crossed.  It looked like someone actually came down while I was poking around the corral and headed downhill after crossing the creek.  I thought I heard voices and there was newly flattened grass in a footstep pattern.  Maybe that's where the camp is?  or their grow?

Were I camping in the area, I would probably go a little west of the connector near where someone's put a blue ribbon way off trail.  This has more view and is close to a really nice flowing creek.
