Lower Camuesa Camp Survey - 11-19-2023 - by Brad Anderson
Link: Lower Camuesa Camp
Date: 11-19-2023
Surveyor Name:Brad Anderson
Camp Description:
The road from Indian Creek to Lower Camuesa Camp was in pretty good shape and fairly easy on bikes. The cement water tank/cistern on the road was full of water and would be easy to drop a filter hose into. The gate between Indian Creek and Lower Camuesa is in good shape. There is a small slide on the Lower Camuesa Camp side and a downed tree on the other side. See the photos for the lock situation.

Lower Camuesa Camp is overgrown. We found all three sites and the tables are intact. I could not locate the toilet or the spring box. One of the sites had a fairly intact old stove and several green metal chairs. Kinda cool. No water in the creek near camp. There was water in Camuesa Creek 0.8 miles upstream of camp.
Water Source:Dry
Water Source Details:Creek Dry. Could not locate spring box.

Lower Camuesa Camp Survey - 07-31-2021 - by Los Padres Forest Association
Link: Lower Camuesa Camp
Date: 07-31-2021
Surveyor Name:Los Padres Forest Association
Camp Description:The camp is there, it's located across the creek before the road starts to climb up from the canyon bottom. Look for an old faint moto trail heading towards the creek and push through the brush, you'll find it.

Lower Camuesa has 3 defined campsites complete with tables, fire rings and in some cases chairs. There is also an old metal spring box and a functioning, albeit rickety, outhouse style toilet. This area did not burn in the 2016 Rey Fire.
Water Source:Dry
Water Source Details:No water to be found in the area.

Camp Description:Challenging ride from Middle Camuesa. Could not find any evidence of a campsite where Lower Camuesa was marked on my map. I've never made it this far before, so maybe I didnt know where to look.

Lower Camuesa Camp Survey - 11-02-2019 - by Mark
Link: Lower Camuesa Camp

Surveyor Name:Mark
Camp Description:Passed by on way from Upper Oso to Romero on bikes.  Road below (east) of Middle Camuesa is largely destroyed until hill past lower Camuesa (heading to Mono).  Passable on foot or bikes with some bushwhacking here and there and portages across the debris fields.  The intervening trail between the blown out areas is great.   The camp is overgrown due to lack of use.
