Juncal Gate - Los Padres National Forest
34.486699, -119.540733

Gate Details

  • GateStatus: Always_Locked
  • County: Santa Barbara County
  • Ranger District: Santa Barbara Ranger District
  • Longitude: -119.540733
  • Latitude: 34.486699

This gate prevents automobile travel up past Juncal towards Jameson Lake.  Only the Forest Service and Jameson Dam Keeper have access to travel this road.  It is located at the old Juncal Campground which was decommissioned some decades back due to the presence of the red legged frog.  While driving the road towards Jameson and Murietta Divide is impossible, it is a very nice mountain bike ride.  There is a second gate located about 100 yards past the first gate.  They are both closed and locked all the time.
