Description:

Chalk peak car campground is located above Highway 1 off Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd out the unpaved South Coast Ridge Road.  The campground is just off the road on the north side.  There are not great views from camp but there are great views nearby.  Chalk Peak is accessible by high clearance vehicles but expect the roads to either be muddy in the winter/spring or dusty the rest of the year.

Chalk Peak Campground Survey - 02-13-2016 - by Kelley
Link: Chalk Peak Campground
Date: 02-13-2016
Surveyor Name:Kelley
Camp Description:A small, shady pond nestled in the mountains, great for 1 - 2 vehicles & tents. Be wary of the path off the road, especially after rain. Except for the cars passing by this was a beautiful campsite brimming with life. During summer the frogs and salamanders of the pond will provide lovely background noise to any real nature adventure. This site is absolutely gorgeous, always remember to take only pictures and leave only footprints.
Water Source:Stagnant
Water Source Details:Clear standing water, 4ft-8ft deep, slight flow keeps pond very clean.
Weather Conditions:Light offshore breeze, very shady and mild, approximately 75-80F day and 50F at night.
